Short story form is a tricky one. Some authors really exceed at it, not quite the case here. Fairly entertaining bunch of stories all lacking that certain something. The originality is there for the most part, but it just doesn't get followed through resulting in lackluster endings. The book might have used some editing too, it isn't at a distracting level, but still, for a book that small it is noticeable. Passes the time, but primarily a study in wasted potential. Quick read.

The stories are well written, but I expected with a title of "All the Dark Places" the stories would be a bit moreisted. For example, "Hatchlings" is a story about a guy waging war on the bugs in his bedroom. Yup. I kept expecting the queen to come along and eat himbut she didn't. Every story left me wanting just a bit happen.

These are written well enough and the characters are fairly well formed (as well as can be in short stories), but almost every time I reached the end of a story, it felt like the climax hadn't happened yet, it was building somewhere and then just sort of stopped. Conversely the stories that did have a climax still felt like they could've used more

This small collection of short stories is an easy read. Something fun to do with a couple extra hours.
